Hattorf site

Fire damage repaired, but production not yet resumed

At the start of this week, the repairs that became necessary following the fire damage at the Hattorf production facility of the Werra plant were completed. In technical terms, the facilities are now again ready for operation. However, due to the persistent low water level prevailing in the Werra, which is expected to continue over the coming days, it is not possible to resume production.

During the start-up of operations at the Hattorf site production facility at the end of November, a fire broke out that also caused damage to the process control system power supply. During this period, it has therefore not been possible to resume production after months of short-time working, as had originally been planned. The extensive repairs have now been completed after almost four weeks.

Despite efficient waste water management of the plant, the currently persistent low water level means the production facility cannot be started up; short-time working is thus being continued. At present, only operation of the Wintershall and Unterbreizbach sites and Epsom salt production at the Hattorf site are possible due to the still very limited possibilities for disposal.
