Reserve mine Siegfried-Giesen
Regulatory review of potash production resumption in preparation
After the technical, economic and market aspects of a possible reopening of the Siegfried-Giesen reserve mine were examined in a comprehensive feasibility study, its results were assessed as basically promising by the Company’s decision-making bodies.
As a next step, the project’s viability is now being reviewed. To that end, a specially established project group is carrying out the tests necessary for a regional planning procedure and a subsequent plan approval procedure and drawing up the relevant documents. The appropriate applications for these procedures will then be made.
The two administrative procedures, for which the district of Hildesheim and the Regional Office for Mining, Energy and Geology are responsible, will take several years to complete. After the results of these procedures are available, an investment decision can be made on the basis of the economic and market conditions verified as a final step.
