K+S is the world’s largest salt producer and one of the top potash providers worldwide. K+S mines and processes raw materials on four continents for customers all over the world. Many of our employees enjoy the international perspective combined with friendly cooperation with their colleagues in all parts of the world on a day-to-day basis. 70% of our approximately 14,000 employees are employed in Germany. The remaining employees work in other European countries, in North or South America, Africa or Asia. In addition to sending employees on assignments all over the world, international collaboration and transfer of knowledge serves to strengthen our employees’ professional and intercultural skills and contribute to global connectedness.

Morton Salt in North America


Morton Salt is the leading salt producer in North America. Its products include table salt and special salts as well as water softeners and de-icing salt.

K+S Windsor Salt Ltd. in Canada


K+S Windsor Salt Ltd. is our salt extraction and production company in Canada. The Windsor Salt Company was founded in 1893 and became Canada’s biggest salt producer after its purchase by the K+S Group.

K+S Chile


K+S Chile is headquartered in Santiago de Chile and specializes in salt mining. The Salar Grande de Tarapacá in Chile’s Atacama Desert is the company’s biggest mine, covering an area of 225 km² and having a depth of 60-120 meters.

K+S Potash Canada


K+S Potash Canada is part of the K+S Group’s major Legacy project. The company is headquartered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where a new potash plant and production facilities are being built. Expansion of the existing production network will make K+S the only company in the sector to produce potash products on two continents.

Frisia Zout in the Netherlands


Our Frisia Zout plant is a subsidiary of esco that is located in the Dutch province of Friesland. It has been one of the K+S Group’s mines since 2000, and uses the drill hole-brine process to produce high-quality evaporated salt coming from a depth of around 2,800 meters. The plant also produces de-icing salt, cattle salt, lickstones, table salt, nitrate curing salt and much more.

Locations in Germany


In Germany, one can find mining and excavation locations along with production plants, logistics centers, research centers and administrative facilities. The various companies are spread all across Germany and are managed from the headquarter of K+S Aktiengesellschaft in Kassel, where all Group-wide decisions are made and guidelines are released.
