Our business

The K+S Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of standard and speciality fertilizers. In the salt business, measured by production capacity, K+S, with sites in Europe as well as North and South America, is the world’s leading producer.

Our Fertilizer core business sector encompasses the Potash and Magnesium Products and Nitrogen Fertilizers business segments. Following our vision and mission, the strategy of the K+S Group provides for growth, particularly in the Potash and Magnesium Products and Salt business segments. In accordance with this strategy, in future, we would like to focus our management resources and financial means principally on these sectors. To expand our potash capacities, we have therefore, as at the beginning of 2011, taken over the Canadian company Potash One, which holds a number of potash exploration licences. On 20 June 2011 we have announced the sale of COMPO (Business segment Nitrogen Fertilizers) to the European private equity investor Triton. In accordance with IFRS, COMPO will be stated as “discontinued operations”.

The Salt core business sector comprises the European producer esco – european salt company, the South American supplier Sociedad Punta de Lobos, and Morton Salt with production sites in the USA and in Canada. With a production capacity of approximately 30 million tonnes of salt, K+S is the world’s leading producer.

K+S offers a comprehensive range of goods and services for agriculture, industry and private consumers which provides growth opportunities in virtually every sphere of daily life. The K+S Group employs more than 14,000 people and achieved revenues of about € 5.0 billion in 2010. The K+S share – the only commodities stock on the German DAX index – is listed on all German stock exchanges.
